Guillermo del Toro
Leeftijd: 59 jaarGeboren op 9 oktober 1964 in Guadalajara, Mexico. In 1985 maakte hij de korte horrorfilm Doña Lupe. Datzelfde jaar begon hij te werken als make-upspecialist en hij richtte zijn eigen special effects- en grimagebedrijf Necropia op. In 1993 maakte hij zijn speelfilmdebuut met de onafhankelijke lowbudget-horrorfilm Cronos.
In 2002 won hij de Grand Prize of European Fantasy Film in Silver op het Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival voor The Devil's Backbone. Voor Pan's Labyrinth (2006) ontving hij de BAFTA voor Beste Niet-Engelstalige Film en werd hij genomineerd voor de Gouden Palm en de Oscar voor Beste Scenario. Hij won in 2018 de Oscar voor beste regisseur, voor "The Shape of Water" (2017). Sinds 6 augustus 2019 heeft hij een ster op de Hollywood Walk of Fame, op 6918 Hollywood Boulevard.
